Stellar International line-up to play at Django Jamboree 2016.
The Gonzalo Bergara Quartet and Trio Dinicu will perform at the sixth annual Django Jamboree Gypsy Jazz Fest in Louisville, KY on November 4, 2016 at St. John Nulu Theatre (map).
Gonzalo is a fabulous guitarist and composer from Buenos Aires now working in Los Angeles. He plays with violinist and vocalist Leah Zeger. As JazzTimes Magazine illustrates, “the music becomes sculpture. It has weight, density, gravity. This is serious… and deeply moving.”
Trio Dinicu, also from the west coast, features violinist Luanne Homzy of Montreal, Tommy Davy of Los Angeles on guitar. Trio Dinicu fuses traditional Romany music, jazz and classical to create an exciting new sound.
“Trio Dinicu, one of fastest rising groups on the scene today, with their thoroughly modern take on traditional Roma and Eastern European music.”
Nick Lehr, Artistic Director, DjangoFest NW
Also, in partnership with University of Louisville, there will be a presentation of European Gypsy culture and history with live music by Trio Dinicu and members of Louisville’s own Swing ’39 at the UofL School of Music on Thursday, November 3 at 8:30 p.m.
Master and Introductory Classes and jam sessions will be held from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Saturday, November 5, at the UofL School of Music (map).
Open Gypsy Jazz Jam sessions will be held Saturday, 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm at Haymarket Whiskey Bar (map) and Sunday, 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the Bard’s Town Theatre (map).
